Let me first start of by saying ' Happy New Year' to all of the barrowfans. I must say it is a bit late of my behalf and I am sorry for that. I wanted to write a piece, seeing how it's a new year and at this time we tend to look forward as well as with a turned shoulder to the past.  We all seem to speaking about what would be a dream project for John Barrowman. In regards to piece of music, we wish he would preform or even stages and materials that we would wish to see him grace.  So let me take you on a trip to the past. With a turned shoulder, let us look to the past and think.  My question to you all is this. What is your favorite piece of art that our dearest John has preformed, recited or created.  Has something touched you more than anything else? Was there a moment that made you stop, and in that second you saw things much clearer? Even if that was for just a single moment.  If so, I would love to hear about it. Share you stories of inspiration and clarity that may have arisen from his words.

My moment of inspiration first came from the song  ' I Am What I Am' . It was April of last year, that I found myself standing in the middle of a room with his words flowing over me like a fresh spring shower. It was there, that I understood  I had been living my life  closed away. Afraid to share who I was or even to embrace it. But it was within those words that I saw what only I could teach myself. A lesson that we all must learn at some point in our lives, we can only hope that lesson is not learned too late in life.  " Life's not worth a damn, until you can say ' I am what I am ' " . Those words are a mantra to live one's life by.  If you hide yourself away, ashamed of who you are because everyone around you is different , you aren't living your life. You are living a lie, a painful lie that you will regret when time moves forward. Life is scary and sometimes you have to take a leap forward and embrace yourself. For until you do, no one will.

As time moved on, I have found inspiration in both his written words and the words of the songs in which he sings. Songs that carry such a strong and passionate message, that most today would have never heard if it was not for him.  As talented as he is, you have to also give him a true appreciation for taking a risk and embracing a series of messages that have been forgotten.

So, I ask you all to share what your moment of inspiration or favorite piece of art created by our dear John Barrowman.  I look forward to hearing what has either inspiration you or just what you favorite piece of work is.

With much love, Christina

Hey #BarrowFans, Dana here, with news of a charity contest that I thought would be REALLY cool for #BarrowFans to try our luck at.  Please read on for more information and how you can help (or at least read the red bits), but the bottom line is if we win we can get a $1000 donation for DogsTrust a charity near and dear to the heart of our favorite John Barrowman.

The contest is called R$NG in the NEW YEAR! and it's put on by an organization I support called 'Maddie's Corner'  a dog loving charity which was founded by Kristin Chenoweth (who I'm sure you all know from 'Glee' and 'Wicked' at the very least) The prize for the contest and the #BarrowRelevance is $1000 donated to your animal loving charity of choice (and cake pops LOL). So when I heard about this contest naturally my first thought was of DogsTrust one of the charities John Barrowman supports that does such great work.  I emailed the folks in charge of the contest and they said DogsTrust certainly qualifies for the prize so if we win it would be something we could do for a very worthwhile organization and something I'm sure would make JB smile. And considering how often he makes us smile wouldn't it be great to repay the favor?

So HOW DO WE WIN? The contest is to see who can get the most people to FOLLOW 'Maddie's Corner' on twitter and LIKE them on Facebook. What YOU all can do is follow @MaddiesCorner on twitter and like Maddie's Corner on Facebook BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. In order for it to count you have to tweet or write on the wall that @BarrowmanDay sent you. You can do both as far as I understand. Here's the details of how to help from the Maddie's Corner site, with addition of our name in the appropriate places:

Twitter:
1. Become a Follower
2.Tweet a variation** of the following: @MaddiesCorner @BARROWMANDAY sent me! #Maddies Corner Contest
**To abide by Twitter guidelines we suggest that you have the followers you are bringing actually tweet a variety of things. Twitter does not like the same thing to be tweeted over and over. The IMPORTANT PART is that no matter what you tweet, be sure to include @MaddiesCorner and @BARROWMANDAY!

Facebook:
1. Become a fan
2. Write on our wall: "BarrowmanDay" suggested I become a fan of Maddie's Corner!

Full contest details

This is a really cool opportunity to help two great organizations spread awareness and raise some funds. So please help if you're so inclined and tell your friends to do the same. The contest ends January 31st so get on it #BarrowBuddies!!

Also, please if you have a free moments take a look at the websites for Maddie's Corner (www.maddiescorner.org) and DogsTrust (www.dogstrust.org.uk) to learn more about the wonderful work they do.

This is just something I thought would be nice for us to do, we're not associated with John Barrowman, DogsTrust or Maddie's Corner in any official capacity. We just  support them all and think you should too!

This is a subject I have encountered on numerous occasion with regards to the age and sex of Johns fandom! And it is something I find both annoying and to an extent insulting to myself, fellow fans and John himself.

It is a subject that has been touched upon by fellow tweeters (who I must add I don't follow), bloggers and journalists alike. I am refering to the apprent fact that ALL Johns fans are both female AND of a certain age or 40 plus!

Of course those who follow @BarrowmanDay will know that we don't ALL fall into that supposed catagory at all. We have followers who are in their teens, followers who are male (and not necessarily gay) or both! I myself have a niece who loves him to bits and she's 12 in November! And what about all the children who love Captain Jack from Doctor Who...They ARE children, not 40 plus women! lol

Of course there are women who are of a certain age or who are 40 plus (dare I say it I fall in there! Eeeek), but isn't John (eeeek) also 40 plus? He's not a teeny bopper pop singer! (thank the gods!). He's a fabulously talented mature (I say that with tongue in cheek) entertainer!

What such comments go to show is that these people are incredibly ignorent of A: Who John Barrowman is and B: Who is fan base are! They haven't a clue and don't take the trouble to even look!

John Barrowman is not only talented, but he is able to appeal to a VERY broad spectrum of ages, sexual orientation, religion or what ever you can think of! I like to imagine that there are Aliens out there that love him as much as we do! lol

So you people out there who think John is just for women of a certain age...Try actually looking at his fan base, who they are and stop lazily making ridiculous assumptions and start doing some actual research about his fans before you insult them and him!

Here's is one article that triggered this blog. I added a comment under the name Mickie Newton! I even had a reply!  Swindon News

Below is a late night concoction I created to accompany my well wishes for the John Barrowman 2010 concert tour. The words in bold are all John Barrowman song lyrics. It's an address to you all and a plea for a US (L.A. specifically) John Barrowman concert. Enjoy.

Hey World!

What are you thinking of? You know how I feel. John Barrowman, I hope you don't mind all I ask of you. L.A.'s changed a lot over the years, trust in me when I say it's a new day. And some folks believe it's a fantasy, the gap between us is too wide. What I really mean is  c'mon big baby c'mon! I'll dance and I'll sing, I'll do anything for a concert here on Sunset Boulevard!  One night only! Oh there's lots that I can say and I don't wanna push, but what about us American BarrowFans? I know that you're bound to answer when I propose, anything goes. And it's all right with me.

Yup that was cheesy, but that's just me, hope someone got a laugh out of it! High five to everyone who is going to the tour or who has seen a show already. I cannot wait to see the concert dvd! JB if you read this hope you have a great tour wherever it leads you. You're the Top.

<3Dana

p.s. as stated above all in bold are lyrics to John Barrowman songs and in no way mine, copyright their respective owners no infringement intended.
Picture
This is something I put together to send my best wished to John Barrowman on his tour and to let him know his fans in the US are wishing him well. It's a play on the opening of John's show 'Tonight's the Night' but i bet you all knew that.

That IS me in the photo. The photo was taken by my friend Kristine and #BarrowIzed by i4dezign73. I came up with this idea while looking for pose inspiration via John Barrowman concert pictures. The mic is there because I needed to be doing something in the photo and I sing.

If you want to see the full bigger version of this picture and I hope you do you can see it on our TwitPic here: http://twitpic.com/2v3l3l

First of all let me thank you all for taking the time to follow both 'BarrowmanDay' on Twitter and our fansite.   This site was created out of a mutual love and respect for a talented and generous entertainer.  Over the past few months, lord how time passes by, I have been a bit absent from the both the site and Twitter.  I would like to express my apologizes for this absent. Although I am sure that some of you reading this, might not be too sure who I am. That is my own fault due to my absence. If you are interested, you can find out more out about me on the ' Meet The Girls ' page or at Twitter  as  @classic_dame.

Seeing that tonight is opening night for the 2010 John Barrowman Tour, I thought I would purpose the great mystery question for us all.  " Why Do You Love John Barrowman?"   I invite you all to come forth and share the reasons. Why makes him stand out in your minds and hearts?  I want to know and I am sure  John would be interesting as well.

Let me get the ball going and share with you what make John stand out in my mind. Like many of you my first taste of John was from 'Doctor Who'. The dashing young captain from 1940's, who would not have been a bit curious as to who he was.  As time moved on we were granted  the complete glimpse of 'Captain Jack Harkness' via  'Torchwood'.  Barrowman is the quint essential performer. A bit of an old world charmer as you may say. In a time where most stars are worried about their next big blockbuster, the club they will spotted out  or what designer they are seen wearing , Barrowman is a breath of fresh air. In a world where success usually means you lose sight of who you are, he has held fast to who he is and where he came from. It is when we forget our past, our future becomes cloudy. There are certain people who come along and their honesty can be seen. Barrowman for me is a perfect gentleman to be a role model. He has pushed through the struggles of life, embraced his dream and never forgot or discarded those that helped him along the way.

If you haven't read  'Anything Goes' or  ' I Am What I am' , I recommend both. If you are in a place in life that you are searching and trying to figure out who you are or if you are struggling to accept and embrace the wonderful creation that is yourself, I recommend that you read them.

So please comment below and let me know what makes you love John Barrowman.

With Love,

~Christina

Firstly, I am hoping that some nice person posts this show onto YouTube as it was, as always with JB, an excellent show. Loved it heaps!

The lovely Fern Britton hosted the show with guest John Barrowman (well deh! lol), Andy Garcia and Strictly Come Dancing pro-Dancer Brian Fortuna & his girlfriend/actress Ali Bastian.

John was on first and he spoke about DH (he only had a small, well no half a trailer. He said he'd downsized! lol Awwww bless his cotton socks.

He also spoke of the novel, no correction novels he and Carole have been comissoned to write. they have been asked to write 3 sci-fi novels for teens and have already started on the first. Though he gave most of the credit to his big sister who has been known to be sat until 3am on her computer typing! He admited, as we all knew, that he dictates into a ipod and Carole add her wonderful flare and types it up. They've worked on the story between them.
Fern also asked John if he'd watched the new series of Doctor Who. He admited that he'd only seen the first episode, but sue to work he'd not had chance to watch the rest. He also admited to feeling like he was betraying David; this is because David will always be John's Doctor! But he says once he hance the chance he will sit down and watch all of them one after the other.

After Fern had chatted away with Brian and Ali (along with John) they got up to do a Salsa dance, along with John and Fern. John danced with Ali and Brian with Fern. John was being a little naughty (it's a tea time show! lol) with Ali and Fern said to Brian he didn't need to worry as Ali was safe with John. In less than a hart beat Brian said to Fern, "But you're not safe with me!" lol Must be said that John had some lovely moves Mmmmmmmmmmm lovely wiggle!!!

Fern then interviewed Hollywood actor Andy Garcia about his new film 'City Island' that I believe opens in the UK a week this comin Friday. There were some giggles thanks to John, who had puffed up Andy's cushions before he came to sit down. John must admire Andy as he sat next to Andy. But the big giggle was when Fern said to Andy "Make sure you don't sit too close to John or you may need a crowbar to prize you appart!" Andy replied "Why do you think I'm sat at arms length."

Lots of VERY funny things were said by John that (because of brainfart syndrome) I can't remember..There was THAT many!

The final guests were a dance group called 'Recycled Teeenagers.' They are urband/street dancers made up of the more mature members of our population. One lady said she was 72 and didn't look a day over about 55. John, Fern, Brian and Ali got up to join them on the floor and the lead/teacher dancer whent through a dance routine. It involved swinging hips and wriggling your bottom...As you can imagine John had no problems with either of these two movements!

The whole programme was brilliant, loved every minute! And if someone posts it on YouTube, I shall post a link onto here!!!

Here are a couple of links. Hope you can ALL enjoy them!

This blog will be vastly different from the other two that have been
posted. I am sorry for that. I have spent a while debating on if I
should write this, myself. After much debate and wise counseling from another
BarrowmanGirl ,the choice was simple. Write it. There are times in
life when our opinions are not always butterflies and rainbows, but
sometimes just flat and realistic. For me, this one of those times.
Please read the following blog with a grain of salt and understand
that you may not agree or approve of my thoughts, they are my thoughts
just as you have your own on the series. I do not want this blog to
incite the same issue that faced Gillian on the Barrowman Boards.
Please keep your comments to the blog and the opinions stated in the blog.

I am not a prude, Ianto hater or a newbie to this fandom.I state this
only because the article in which you are about to read will make you
believe that one or all of these stereotypes are correct upon me.
Please take this article as what it is , a work of opinion. Something
we all have and I am sure express it.  I shall only do this once, so
gather round my lovelies:  I would like to apologize to anyone that
sees this as A)- A hit at the sexual revolution  B)- A I hate Ianto
campaign ( Which must mean I have an issue with two men being in a
relationship ) or C)- An attack at the fandom, to include but not
limited to : Cosplay,Comics,RP,FanFic ...etc.... Now that, that has
been said shall we continue down the road ?

The first  question on everyone's mind is: "Are you happy, excited,
thrilled, overjoyed  that Torchwood is returning?"  Of course I am
enthralled with joy that 'Torchwood' will be returning to our
screens. If you were a fan would you not be happy?  The second that
always follows that one is: "So, do you have any concerns?" Of course,
I have concerns but I can tell you that my concerns are not mainstream
concerns. This the part of the blog that the above mentioned statement
refers to. You may stop at anytime along this journey.

My first concern, the channel in which 'Torchwood' has found a home
and really not so much the channel as the fact that the channel is
based here in the states. Please let me say this before the comments
arrive, I am aware the lovely Russell T Davies will be on the staff as
the main producers and handler -just like before.  Now with that said
let me explain my fear or rather the reasoning behind the fear.
Americans see television in a different light or understanding than
the British and in my opinion it is not a better light. First let me
say this, I have no issue with sex nor do I have an issue with sex
being placed in cinema and series when the moment or situation is
correct.'Torchwood' was and always will be a show that has very strong
sexual undertones. That is fine, in fact great. John Barrowman as
Captain Jack Harkness  is lovely and cheeky and no one wants to change
him.  Now back to the sex statement, American producers seem to use it
as a filler. If a show lacks a story line or good character, or say
our ratings are down -they will not think twice about filling their
schedule block of time with mindless sex. There is currently a show on
the  'Starz' network that is an example of this. The first thing you
hear from so many when they find out that 'Torchwood' will be on
'Starz'  is that there is no censor, mainly this is from Americans but
I also assume it is said by those that wish to see a bit more of
Barrowman. However, ladies and gentlemen it is rarely the leading
gentleman that has the action, it is the supporting cast and add ons.
Basically my fear on the channel and sex issue , boils down to this
simple statement : I am afraid that 'Torchwood' will become another
watered down, sad sexed up excuse of American television. I don't want
'Torchwood' to be lost to the mainstream grouping of an American
network, simple as that. I want to see the series that has the same passion and heart that I fell in love on BBC.

Now that my biggest and worst fear of the new series is stated I can
share with you  some of the random thoughts I have in general to the
new show.  There are some in the fandom that believe without  'Ianto
Jones' 'Torchwood'  is a lost cause and refuse to watch the show .
This has been displayed by the hate mail that the BBC has received as
well as mass campaigns on social networking sites.  Before you knew
'Ianto' you loved the show, or maybe you loved John Barrowman and
followed him to the show. But there was a reason that you came to
'Torchwood'. Before  'Ianto' there was  'Captain Jack' and this is how
it will be now. No, I am not saying that I didn't love 'Ianto'  or I
am glad he is deceased. That is not the case. But I will say, I
understand why  the character was killed.  (Please post all hate
mail in the comment section with subject line - "Ianto Hater". Thank
you)  I shall explain, for those that are curious as to my feelings,
if you are not one of those followers you may fast forward to the next
section. 'Jack' has grown in each series. Within series one, we see him
struggle with who he is , his team as well as  finding his place in the world. He
is constantly searching for  'The Doctor' to fix him or to make him right. In the second
series, we see 'Jack' deal with personal relationships. It is here in the second series, that we see 'Jack' understand who he really is.He learns toopen up and trust. Then to even love.. Once we learn to trust and love,
what else is there to learn?  Simple - loss. To truly understand how
important something is we must understand great loss. Of course 'Jack'
has dealt with loss before, but not once he knew and understood who he
was. This is where series three enters, we see 'Jack' deal with loss
and grief.  What many people forget is that in addition to losing his
partner, he lost something greater. ( Once again, please note the
comment on hate mail. Thank you)  'Jack' was forced to make  a
decision that only he could make, to sacrifice something that he may
never have again. 'Jack' sacrificed his family, for the good of the
world as whole. Giving up his grandson, which in effect forced him to
lose his daughter. The loss of 'Ianto'  and his grandson allow  'Jack'
to grow and experience loss. This moment in 'Jack's ' life allows for
series four to show the true depth and growth of  his character. Will
it be darker and colder-maybe but then you might see a softer more
understanding of life 'Jack' one that see and accepts that sometimes you
only have this moment. With that being said, the fact that the show ,at
it's current stage of production only has the characters of 'Gwen
Cooper' and 'Jack Harkness' returning is not an issue for myself.
Seeing that those two carried the weight and were in fact the center
of the show. The character of 'Ianto Jones' was a way in which we
could see 'Jack' grow and become the captain that we all love and care
for. I am sorry for those that still mourn the 'death' of 'Ianto Jones', but it was a required action in the scope of the series.

I can see that some may take my views as a slap against the fandom. But it is important to realize that we all have different opinions and thoughts. It is these thoughts that make us a wonderful and diverse section of the human landscape. Yes, my views do not follow the mainstream idea of  saving "Ianto" but that is what makes it,my view. The thought that I want to see Jack, suffer and grow into a deeper ,stronger man for it- does go against  90% of the viewers. But in the back of all of your minds, I am sure you all would like to see Jack grow also.  Let's be honest, we all will never agree. Simple as that, but it is the fact that we won't agree that makes this fandom great. It allows for us all to have a creative and respective debates on the subject. At times there are some that lose sight of the bigger picture and it is those that create a less than flattering name for 'Torchwood' fans, but in the end it is our love for the characters and the story that unites us all. Let's try to focus our energy to promote a healthy and well rounded new chapter in the fandom with series four.
At the end of the day, yes I am happy that 'Torchwood' is returning.
But that doesn't mean I don't have fears and concerns that the series
we all fell in love with will be changed forever. However, these fears
are not enough to stop me from opening my mind and embracing a show
that I care about. I hope that others, who for whatever
reasons ( Ianto) were not going to watch the series, take a moment and think about what first brought them to the 'Torchwood'. That is the same reason you should embrace this series now.  Don't turn you back on something that you loved and followed for three years, just because a character is not returning. We all experience loss in our life at one point or another, but do we stop living? No, embrace who they were and more forward. 'Ianto' would not want 'Jack' to stop living and being himself because of his death, just as Garth David Lloyd doesn't want you the fans to stop watching 'Torchwood'. '. I will be returning to the series, even with my fears of the network because I love characters. I love what they represent  and who they are. I hope you will put aside your fears and hate, and allow yourself to at least give the series a shot with an open mind. Everyone was fearful when David Tennant left as "The Doctor" and Matt Smith arrived, but did everyone in the fandom stop watching? No! You embraced the change and moved forward. That is what we need to do with 'Torchwood'.  Let's have faith in John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Russell T Davies to give us what we loved before but in a new and dramatic way.

Hey Barrowman Buddies!

I wanted to take a moment to talk about Torchwood Series 4, how I feel about it, what I want and so on.  If you care what I have to say please read on. I've separated by category in case you're only interested in certain topics, yea?

AM I EXCITED?

Darn tooting' I am! Torchwood is my favorite show ever and not only does this mean I get MORE JOHN BARROWMAN, but we get more Captain Jack as well! Everything that made me love the show (minus the obvious exception and I'll get to that) is going to be back. We get Jack, Russell T. Davies, a bit of Welsh fun and the promise of sexy alien adventures. And we get it on Starz, which means virtually no concerns about censorship, hooray!!

CAST SPECULATION

What do we know? We have confirmed John Barrowman and Eve Myles. That's not a bad start. The pair were arguably the "main characters" of series 1-3. That being said it stands to reason that people who enjoyed the first 3 series, already have something similar to look forward to, at least in that sense. John Barrowman's performance and character are regularly incredible and Eve Myles (while I'm no fan of Gwen) is a fabulous actress. As for the rest of the cast, it seems that most if not all will consist of new characters. What I think is that through Torchwood, we've been introduced to a great deal of characters most of which have been well developed, interesting and loved, SO, I reckon we should trust Team Torchwood to deliver again. My main concerns here are that they have yet to announce the return of Kai Owen and Gareth David-Lloyd (Shh! I said I'll get to it.).

MOVING ON

A lot of people after Torchwood: CoE questioned if the series could or should continue and after thinking long and hard I am glad it is.  Part of the concern is rooted in the absence of a certain character (be patient) which is a valid concern as he was a major part of the show. Other worries come from the annihilation of the Hub and everything in it, Jack leaving planet to sulk (bless him) and Gwen being pregnant.  It seemed like a very easy place to end the show as every character had a conclusion of sorts. The problem of course is that a lot of people were not happy with the ending. It was dark, broke up the team and also that other thing. Russell T Davies has stated that he has had another series in mind and know's exactly how he want's to proceed. The question we have to worry about is, will a new series give us resolution or will it hurt us in a different way to see our characters move on from something we can't seem to. There is a level of risk in continuing the story but I have to hope for the best.

HOPES AND FEARS

If I controlled Torchwood  there are a few things I would insist on and one I just couldn't abide.

My list of demands are:

John Barrowman as Jack - This one is a done deal. I hope they retain everything we love about the character without reverting him to his series one antics. He's been through a lot and his character should reflect that but we don't want him too mopey, lest we'd miss that smile!!

Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto - Only still touching on this subject, but let's be clear I am Pro Ianto! Save The Coffee Boy!

Kai Owen as Rhys - Because he's such an endearing character and a great actor.  Further he keeps Gwen one foot in the real world and he's her husband/baby daddy.  The number one problem with a Torchwood without Rhys is what it implies, and in any scenario writing him out Rhys ends up hurt and alone and the character deserves a better ending.

Welsh Vowels - Heck the entire Welsh factor for that matter, Torchwood is meant to have a certain level of Welshness to it. It's ok to bring in non-Welsh characters or settings, but give us a healthy dose yea?

Sexy Alien Adventures - That after all if the hook of the show, isn't it? Doctor Who for grown ups if you will, let's hope it keeps that factor.

Then there are the potential disasters, no just one, one thing that I NEED kept out of the show, for the sake of my sanity:

GWACK - First and only on the list and a potential heartbreak for me. It's one thing to misstep on Jack mourning for Ianto, it's one thing if they have him in all sorts of hook-ups or even a serious relationship before we're ready to see him there, but if they go the GWACK route, have ANY SORT OF SEXUAL ANYTHING with Gwen and Jack, Torchwood will be very hard for me to watch. Not because I hate Gwen (which I do) but because I hate them as a pair and it feels disrespectful to Ianto, it feels like (to me) that Jack was waiting for Ianto (and maybe Rhys) to be out of the way before moving in on Gwen and that is unBARROWble to me. It makes Ianto seem like a meaningless detour on the way to Gwen. I hate this idea, I hate it! I will always watch Torchwood and be a fan, but this could rip out my heart. Please don't…please.

Disclaimer about the above rant:  If they do GWACK I will go MAD. I will keep a brave face, I will tell everyone that Torchwood is amazing and watch it because John Barrowman is brilliant. But, and don't get me wrong because I love Eve Myles, the Gwen bashing will escalate unbelievable amounts, with me and I'm sure others. I don't want to hate her!! Just make her happy with Rhys, we can start over.

SAVE IANTO

Alright here we are, the inevitable land of Ianto.  Let me start by saying where I stand.  I love Ianto Jones, I love Gareth David-Lloyd, this is my favorite character in the entire Whoverse (just barely edging out Jack). I also have a serious problem with his death. Aside from the fact that he will be missed, the circumstances of his death upset me. I feel like he was used as a plot device, a means to an end, and it wasn't in character for me in some ways. I am not about hating. Ianto is dead, that is a fact. I am not running around with "RTD is Dead To Me" T-shirts, I can appreciate all the awesome things RTD is also responsible for. I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts about the new series of Torchwood but really the number one reason I wanted to write this is because I am saddened by all the fans who are focusing on negatives instead of celebrating the positives. I want Ianto back, I really do and I have hopes that they could bring him back sometime.  But, even if they don't can't we all just appreciate how great Torchwood has been and all the things OTHER THAN IANTO that we loved? Most obviously there's Captain Jack, our dear John Barrowman (check the site, we like him). He's the reason Torchwood happened in the first place and the reason many of us tuned in. I've heard people say that they began watching for Jack but stayed watching for Jack and Ianto. There are people saying they are not going to watch unless Ianto comes back.  Let me say to all of you the following:  If you watched for Jack the first time, do it again! It's a whole new world of possibilities even after Ianto. Watch for Jack and maybe you'll end up staying for Betty! Maybe Betty is the greatest character ever we just don't know about it yet? We have a whole future of Torchwood ahead who knows what amazing characters and moments it may bring! Ianto was a good thing, not the only good thing, not watching wont bring him back it'll only get the show cancelled. It's ok to love Ianto, it's ok to send coffee and postcards and beg for him back, but why spread hate and anger, can't we all just get along? If I'm willing to give Gwen another chance surely you can trust in RTD once more. Let's be positive we all want Ianto back, but let's not get into bashing of Torchwood or our lovely John Barrowman.

Let me finish by saying just this: I am excited about the new series, John Barrowman is going to be brilliant no matter what and IN BARROWMAN I TRUST.

Have a Happy Barrowman Day

Well I am so pleased I was proven wrong when I felt that Children Of Earth was it with regards to our beloved Torchwood and that I would ONLY ever own 3 box sets! Now Startz TV has taken up the reins, along with BBC Wales and BBC Worldwide, who will be making Season 4, due out summer 2011. So I really CANNOT write about Tonights The Night or anything else JB related other than Torchwood...lol

Now all I need to do is get my brain working, I didn't get to bed 'till late watching carefully the RTD interview with BBC News 24! I have read uber amounts of stuff this past 30 odd hours since the announcement. But what I have mostly been reading is fandom stuff on places such as twitter. I think one of the things that made me feel that CoE was IT was how the story had evolved and how it ended, with Jack suffering terribly from both the loss of Ianto and ultimately the loss of his grandson Steven. And so Jack leaving earth, seemingly forever. I imagine that the first episode is going to be powerful and VERY emotional as Jack will still be reeling from all this awful pain and still trying to come to terms with what has happend. But I digress, much like JB does in his books! lol!

What I have seen on Twitter especially is so many people saying they will not watch the new series because Ianto is not it in. Well I say this...Why did you originally decide to tune into this amazing series? Ianto? I think not! Most people, like myself, had seen Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and to see a series following his exploits witn Torchwood seemed too good to miss. I decided to take a look at torchwood BECAUSE of Captain Jack/John Barrowman. The fact that I grew fond of Ianto and their lovely and sweet relationship was a bonus. I loved Ianto wonderful quips and how much he cared for Jack and how much Jack cared for Ianto And I will most deffinately miss that, that cannot and should not be denied. BUT, and as you can see that is most deffinately a massive BUTT, I would not turn away because the writter, wether I agree or not, chose to take away Ianto. To an extent I could see WHY RTD did it. Jack had a terrible choice to make at the end of the story and he needed to be hurt and in pain to make it. Without that awful loss that he felt, that terrible guilt in the pit of his stomach Jack would NEVER have been able to do what he did. And wether we like the result or not, a child HAD to die and Steven was the oly one close to hand. Time was of the essence.

So no amount of "I'm not watching Torchwood unless they bring back Ianto" or "They saved Rhys and the brought back Suzie and Owen, so they can bring back Ianto, it is SciFi after all!"  will change anything. What is the point of killing someone, to bring a dramatic end to only bring them back to life. the only one who can cheat death is Jack and that is by no choice of his. That was the doing of Rose Tyler in S1 of Doctor Who.

Davies has ALWAYS said, and it's been said in TW time and time again, that Torchwood members die young. whats the point in saying this if your going to bring them back?! Owne and suzie came back, but too only die again later and for good. Rhys died, but he wasn't meant too. And technically he wasn't and isn't a member of Torchwood, so he doesn't really count in the "they all die young" thing.

Like I said, to a great extent I didn't like what RTD did, but mostly because of the pain and loss Jack felt when he died in his arms. That sad and heartfelt kiss of life from Jack in the hopes it would once again bring him back, to only wake  at the side of Ianto's body was painfully sad and terribly horrible, more horrible than any monster that Davies or Moffat could conjour up!

But I am, as JB puts it, a true Woody fan, just as much as I am a Whovian fan, and WILL be watching when TW S4 returns in 2011 and the ONLY thing that would stop me is if Jack didn't return because he was why the series was created and so is Torchwood!

Anywhooo...I feel I have gone on way too long and so I shall leave you for now. And next time I will think of something new to talk about with regards to Torchwood. That is unless something new comes up about JB that ISN'T Torchwood related! lol

I'm feeling some what frustrated. Somebody on Twitter is saying there is going to be a 4th season of Torchwood. If there is I have NO idea where this info has come from because there is NOTHING anywhere about it. I suspect they've got confused with a posting about Fox, who we all know has decided NOT to make TW!

Wish people would get their facts straight before saying stuff!!!
