57 Days left and today I went on another adventure. My friend Jenni and I went to check out the filming location for Torchwood today to see if we could get a glimpse. I think either today or tomorrow is that last day of filming so we thought we'd give it one last go.

Unfortunately today was not as fruitful as other location visits I've been on during Torchwood's time in  LA. Not to worry though I did take a couple of pictures of signs (exciting I know) and a picture of a nearby establishment which provided us with a some serious laughs. So slide show follows.

More signs, I know I spoil you all.
OK this next one is going to be highly entertaining. or at least it was for me, ready? Nothing actually to do with Torchwood filming we just saw it on the same street and had a chuckle.

No really though. I thought this was too funny. JB - John Barrowman...roofing supplies..."He's good on roofs."
Sorry I have very little to report from the nothing we saw but how about I make it up to you by showing you something cool you can buy? TeeFury.com is a website that sells geeky t-shirts. But the trick is they sell one tee shirt design a day and only for that day and you can't get it again. It's cool and at times infuriating if you miss a really good one. They do frequently have Torchwood and Doctor Who designs so you really should keep up with them.

Anyway the good news, if you are reading this the day I am writing it is that today's tee is Torchwood related!! Hooray! Here's the graphic: (it's not ours we're not claiming any ownership but we figured if we posted it here more folks would buy it, teefury if you read this and you rather we didn't I'll take it down immediately)

Torchwood references as follows: Cardiff is home of Torchwood 3, the gauntlet is the "Risen Mitten", the pteranodon is Myfanwy (who lived in the Hub) and the year established is 1879 (when the Torchwood Institute was created by Queen Victoria.)
That is so awesome! And it's very geeky for people in the know. I love things that you have to be particularly geeky to understand. The designer who has created many tees for the site is AJ Paglia. I ordered one and I'm excited to get it. TIME CHANGES suck! And I hate doing math. I tried my best and I asked for help and as best as I can figure out you can order this shirt until 5amGMT on Saturday (UK TIME) and 9pm PT (US East coast) and 12pm ET (US West coast). I REALLY cannot guarantee those calculations but if you go the the site there is a countdown clock on the top right to how long you have left to buy today's tee. Find today's tee at the home page TeeFury.com If the design I posted isn't there, you missed the time period.

Ok, good luck to all. I hope you enjoyed the silly pictures and I encourage you all to buy this tee. I am so sad that Torchwood filming in the US is over, that means the UK gets custody of John Barrowman and crew again soon :(. It was nice while they were here.

Are you guys gonna buy the shirt? How funny was JB roofing supplies? Will you miss Torchwood in the US or happy for the team to soon be heading back to the UK? xx

88 Days left and today I had the most surreal Torchwood moment ever. Seriously, the time I met John Barrowman ranks high on the ridiculous scale but today was UNFATHOMABLE.

Today's insanity can summed up in 2 words: Torchwood Chatsworth. Lets back up so I can explain. Last night, I came across some information, namely that Torchwood was  going to be filming today...in Chatsworth.

Most of you reading this are in the UK and even those who are in the US might not have heard of Chatsworth. So let me introduce you. Chatsworth, just so happens to be my home town. If the notion of Torchwood filming in the US was unimaginable, Torchwood filming in Chatsworth is absurd. Chatsworth is a small neighborhood in LA. No one has heard of it, so residents generally just tell people we live in LA, it's close enough but lacks the glamor.

The inside scoop on Chatsworth, from someone who grew up here is this: Chatsworth's greatest achievements are in the porn industry. Locals know it as a porn capital, and yes, they film a lot of porn here. That's not to say that we've never had general entertainment TV and films shoot in the area but usually when you see a sign pointing to a location it's in code and points to somewhere you dare not tread. I told my friend Torchwood was filming near my house and he honestly asked me if they were filming porn.  I frankly wouldn't be surprised if they brought John Barrowman to our lovely city to film his upcoming nude scene(s).

And another fun fact, the church next to the filming was a church I frequented during my high school days and the stretch of land and surrounding area was, seriously, the Charles Manson property. To recap, Chatsworth, my home, land of porn and Charles Manson.

What's more, is sources informed us the filming today would take place from about 7am-7pm in a large house in a gated community. Ok, I don't actually think they are filming the next season of TorchWOOD but it does paint a scandalous image. The unfortunate truth is this same filming anywhere else wouldn't be at all suspicious. I realize this is just my preconceived notions of filming in the area in big houses.

At the end of the day the greatest entertainment came from jokes about a rift through Chatsworth, Torchwood Chatsworth, and contemplating one liners that Jack could deliver upon learning about his surroundings. My friend and I are considering making shirts.

Actually scoping out the location didn't yield all that much. The crew was set up about 3 blocks away from my house so it was no trouble to drive by and see what we could discover. It was cool to see Torchwood set up in my area but at the end of the day the filming was in a gated community and so - closed to the public. My friend Kristine Keller snapped a few pictures which I've posted below.

What else is there to say really. It would be cool if Chatsworth ended up mentioned as the location during an episode. I swear I don't hate my city, really it's affectionate reflection.

So what I'm wondering is, do you think Torchwood came to my hometown to shoot the BarrowNude scenes we've been promised? Any guesses what they may actually be filming in a large house? xx

The best thing I saw today was THIS cone, the cone right there, I cannot tell you the amount of joy I got out of the TorchCone. To be fair by the time me and my companion (ha) Jenni got to the TorchCone we had already walked a couple of miles, searching locations and generally getting lost. We were exhausted and I am inclined to believe the TorchCone was more amusing to us than it actually was.

Filming today was...uneventful for the observer. As far as we could tell all the filming was taking place indoors so we didn't get to see anyone, but I had a bit of fun in seeing the buildings and imagining Jack atop them.

We did actually have some exciting fan moments. We were in viewing distance for part of a production meeting. We couldn't hear anything but it was cool seeing certain faces like RTD and Jane Espenson. We saw a lot of emphatic gesturing but nothing to be given away certainly. it looked like a fun group and Jane was kind enough to come mingle with us mere mortals; she was very sweet. Oh and we got a twitter wave from @trpcic who does the costumes and earlier tonight tweeted a pic of her and John on set, which I'm sure has made rounds by now.

All in all we had a lovely time, which was, as always, enhanced getting to talk to the lovely folks on set. We met a particularly kind security guard who chatted with us, Danny I think his name was. He did a fine job, hopefully we helped make his shift a little more enjoyable. As for spoilers to share, afraid I don't really have any and you know from past blogs how I am about that. No spoilers. Forgive me? xx

Get it? Face of Building? Like Face of Boe? I really struggled with a title on this entry. Filming tonight was in an office building so I thought about doing a play on the "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" office scene...I almost went with "don't want you getting over-excited" but it seemed a bit wordy. It would have been fitting though because honestly I have very little to report. My friend Jenni and I made the trek down to Downtown LA where we saw the outside of a building! Very exciting I know. The picture there is from across the street but really we didn't see anything. I assume they were filming indoors and there was security at the entrance. Tomorrow we're going to check out two locations as well, maybe we'll have more luck. I'll be sure to keep you updated. If you follow us on twitter, I'll likely be tweeting from location. You are following us aren't you? xx

Hey Barrowbuddies!!

Made another trip to an on location filming of Torchwood. Again they were at City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles which is SUCH a great location; the building and the city are really beautiful. Today wasn't quite as eventful as my last trip out, but of course anything Torchwood has me excited!

So here's the rundown. Last week I got a message from a friend saying he heard they were filming this time and location. And the details of the filming were HILARIOUS. It said: "Bad Wolf filming in L.A. Thursday, Feb 3, 2011 Bad Wolf Productions" Ha, Bad Wolf, that's amazing. Of course he saw this and knew it was Torchwood, especially since it was at the same location as last time.

I was actually considering not going because I didn't have anyone to go with but this morning my friend Jenni said that she and her husband Jeff could come. I jumped at the chance and we were off! When we got there we saw the set up shown in the picture. And that was pretty much our view the rest of the night. The only recognizable cast member on set was Lauren Ambrose who is playing "PR guru" Jilly Kitzinger. Let me tell you guys, she is GORGEOUS
in person, her hair, her wardrobe was adorable, I bet this is gonna turn into a cosplay look. Heck maybe I'll grab a wig and try it sometime. Good on her being so pretty and well done to costume, hair and makeup, just aces.

The scenes filmed outside were rather uneventful. Mostly just walking and talking with some woman, couldn't tell you more if I wanted to. That being said, we had fun it was great being on the set none-the-less. They also spent about 2 hours filming inside the building  which we couldn't watch so it's POSSIBLE other cast members were there, but we didn't see if they were. Also, we got shushed at one point, from across the street! I think maybe we were having too much fun, but can you blame us? It's Torchwood! xx

Today was Barrowman Day. As in, the day I met John Barrowman! Wow, what a night, I'll never forget it. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Here's the details.

I heard online that there was going to be an on location shoot for Torchwood in downtown LA, specifically at City Hall. Knowing how rare an opportunity to see John Barrowman is, living in the US, I decided I had to at least try or I would regret it.  My friends and I arrived when they were still setting up, this was around 5pm. We saw the film crew and loads of prop vans and trailers. But alas no Barrowman, nor did we glimpse Alexa Havens who we heard would be there and I am  a fan of from her soap opera days.

We DID however get friendly with a number of the folks working on the shoot a prop guy, a few security guards, some lighting technicians, everyone was very nice and didn't mind that fans were around so long as we were quiet for rolling and didn't pummel the talent. We also ran into 2 other BarrowFans and we teamed up for the night.

After the first part of filming, where we were not at an angle to SEE JB or Alexa they moved to a different part of the building. We walked to the new set up and we could plainly see the rehearsing and filming which was such a treat. We were pretty content just getting to see Jack in action but then John Barrowman went above and beyond and acknowledged us!

He was filming then he made his way towards a van and he yelled over to us that he was going to get done up and I yelled back that he looked fabulous to which he responded thank you and that he would come visit us later, bless, what a GEM of a man he is.

He was gone for quite a while actually and when he returned he went back to filming at which point we got chummy with some of the extras, one of which I gladly educated about the phenomenal John Barrowman. Needless to say I saw quite a bit of what was going on a few tidbits about the scenes and effects going into the new series BUT they specifically asked me not to take photos and I got the impression that gossip about details would be frowned upon so for now I'll keep to myself with the promise I will re-blog once the show has aired, sound fair?? I hope you understand I just don't want to step on any toes.

So, after some more filming and minutes after my jaw had a random attack of pain, maybe from smiling too much, we see John and Alexa walking towards us. Which, we were pretty far actually so as to not be in the shot. They came over and greeted us with thanks and hugs. And let me just say, John Barrowman smells 51st century for sure. He hugged me and apologized for getting me wet cause they filmed a wet scene, mind out of the gutters people! He also was kind enough to stay and chat for a few minutes. He signed papers and what we had for everyone and he did so with a Sharpie I produced from my chest, thank you *takes a bow*, best pocket EVER. He did also slip in some kind words about my chest when I produced a small piece of paper I prepared for him out of my bra. I just gave him information about Barrowman Day, you know me ALWAYS at the ready! We didn't get a picture because he wasn't allowed to while it wardrobe but he promised to next time I meet him, should I be so lucky.

So things we talked about…I checked out the coat, got to see and feel it up close and I PROMISE it is nothing to worry about still looks like our hunky Captain. I told him about Barrowman Day and all of us sharing our love for him at least once a week. And I told him about the contest we are trying to win to get $1000 for dogstrust. He was very supportive and said he would try to ReTweet our tweet about it to get the word out, then FOR SURE we would win, by the power of the BarrowFans.I also explained to him that the contest was put on by Kristin Chenoweth's charity and the entire world of everything I love collided and he said OF COURSE he knows who she is and he knows her ex Aaron Sorkin, that's just so neat.  By the way if you haven't had a chance to help us please check out this link to find out how: http://tl.gd/87v32d it's SO easy and takes 2 minutes. I also asked him about when Scott was coming out here and he said he was coming back with him after the Wales shoot in a few weeks. OH! And then he asked me to tweet all of you that I met him and really, who am I to deny Barrowman? So that's where we left off. I don't know, I cannot think of anything else, but we were there and I was scantily clad from 5pm to about 1am so I am exhausted and still freezing. And wow was it worth it, he really is as sweet and good to his fans as everyone says, what a gem. That's when we left the shoot. As I said I don't want to say too much about the filming but everything we saw and heard was amazing, I am POSITIVE Torchwood is gonna be a hit. Love you all, thanks for joining us every week and then some to share in the sheer joy that is John Barrowman.

I am posting a picture of me with the autographed item I got as it's my only proof that this ACTUALLY happened, but you all would take my word right? xx

Greetings Barrow Buddies!

Had my first shot at running into John Barrowman this past week (to no avail) when I stopped by an on location shoot for Torchwood. They were filming at a building in downtown Los Angeles which was, as you'd expect, not open to the public. The security guards were all very nice though and they did confirm that Torchwood was filming there. I got a number of responses regarding what time they would start filming so I didn't end up seeing anyone. However, I did get a glimpse inside the building.  The set up looked like a bank with a giant vault. I've heard that other films and shows have been shot there but I am unable to confirm that. It looked really great and while they wouldn't let me in to snap any pictures they were kind enough to let me shoot the backside of the vault...through a scratched up window. I know it's not much  but I thought I would post it anyhow (see picture). Hopefully next time I'll come away with something more. 'Til then. xx
