We have 79 Days left and the last 24 hours have been exhausting. Everyone has been upset and crying, tributes and sad songs were everywhere and I think what we need now is something happy.

It's late and I am in no mood to write something serious so this is going to be a silly release and we gonna just be dumb for a bit ok?

I was trying to come up with a topic, just something chipper, so I asked twitter for suggestions. A lot of people came up with some ridiculous stuff to make me smile, but the winning topic comes from my friend Jenni. She tweeted at me simply "Red and Blue" which was in reference to a conversation we had the other day. I am trying to remember the specifics but I was claiming that Jack and Ianto together amounted to the color purple. (LOL the color purple *theatre geek*) Why? Because Jack is obviously blue and Ianto is red, so, y'know purple. The point is we were just having a bit of fun. And in the name of fun I thought today I would blog Torchwood meets Power Rangers. Taking a look at the Torchwood team of the past and the future and assigning them colors. Whether based on what they look good in, or their personality, or something arbitrary, we're giving out colors!

Jack: Jack is blue. Jack is so blue he's a smurf. He's blue because he wears a lot of blue and looks great in blue. He's blue because he is actually blue, the tragic hero he carries a lot of heartache. He's blue because blue is a masculine color and he's all man. And finally I am going to say he's blue because Billy the blue power ranger was super hot and my major crush and well....He's blue ok?

Ianto: Ianto is red. He's red because red is his color and he knows it. He's red because red can be understated and also firey. Red is a strong and warm color and Ianto is both of those things. Red is comforting and somehow red is a little bit funny. Red is Ianto through and through. Also red is hot. They are both hot ok??

Tosh:  Tosh is purple. Tosh is purple because all my favorite outfits she's worn have been purple, especially in "To The Last Man". She's purple because she looks lovely in purple and she's purple because it is cool and elegant like she is. She's purple because purple is associated with psychic energy and well, you know. She's purple because purple has a deep dark sadness that cannot always be explained.  Tosh is purple because she is grape flavored which is important for later. Go with it. She's purple.

Owen: Owen is green. Owen is sour grape green because he's a sour grape. Also since he's a green grape and Tosh is a purple grape (red really but I mean the color LOOKS purple) they are the same in some way and suited for each other. I support the mingling of grapes. Owen is a grape. Green grape.

Gwen: Gwen is white. Gwen is white because she is innocent and naive. She is white because she is represented as good and kind. Gwen is white because she can be boring or plane at times. And Gwen is white because white is all colors and she really is a bit of all over the place. Gwen is white and I am not Gwen bashing, because I made a new years resolution not to. Also, I love Eve Myles and she's white because she's Welsh and pale.

The 2 new members I am color classifying are based on virtually nothing as we really don't know.

Esther: Esther is pink. Esther is pink because she is blonde and gorgeous and I'm into stereotypes today. Esther is pink because she's Torchwood Barbie and it's her signature color. Esther is pink because pink is love and I have a feeling she has a big heart. Esther is pink because she can be soft and light, elegant or she can be vibrant and hot. Esther is pink. PS I love Alexa Havins, that's gonna be a blog one of these days.

Rex - Rex is yellow. Rex is yellow because I am running out of obvious colors and I'd hate to repeat myself. Rex is yellow because he has a smile and charm that can light up a room. Rex is yellow because he's a bit mischievous. Rex is yellow because he's a bit immature and impulsive. Rex is yellow because he's a bit like Jack before he grew up.

That's what I've got for you for today. Hope my silly departure from deep topics was welcomed and please tell me what you think of my assignments. Am I way off base? Are any of those real reasons? What are your color assignments? Does anyone want to draw the Torchwood team as Power Rangers now? xx

80 Days left and while I am glad to be closer to our goal, today also marked the loss of Elisabeth Sladen better known as Sarah Jane Smith. What a great loss to the Who-verse. I must admit I have yet to watch the old Doctor Who episodes when she was companion but I have seen her in the more recent episodes as well as select "Sarah jane Adventures" episodes. While this is certainly not the blow to me that it is to long-time fans of her work I did think she was a lovely a vibrant actress and I will miss her contribution to the fandom I am so fond of.  If you have anything to share about her please feel free to post below or join us on @BarrowmanDay where instead of Barrowman Day this week we are having Sarah Jane Day. Just fans getting together and posting lovely thoughts, videos and photos. That will be all day. John actually came online today and tweeted his thoughts about the loss. It was very hard to read that he was taking it so hard so in case you missed it here's what he said:

@Team_Barrowman  Elisabeth Sladen Matriarch of Dr Who I loved my time on the Tardis with her I am proud to have worked with such an icon of the sci fi world

@Team_Barrowman your Dr Who family are very sad and will miss you and your beautiful smile. jb

@Team_Barrowman RTD called me this morning when I woke up. jb

@Team_Barrowman She lived in my Flat in Cardiff when she was filming SJA she was a delight.

@Team_Barrowman Cant tell u how sad I am..

@Team_Barrowman wanted to let you know I got the news as a lot of you were concerned I'm off to chill I hope u understand. Will tweet this weekend in PS. jb

I think a lot of fans really appreciated John coming on and being so candid. It broke my heart to see

But that's not why we're actually here. I  owe you a Torchwood countdown blog and as it's Tuesday I'll be posting the various videos, articles and photos I have found for the week. Honestly I haven't run into much this week but here's what I have found.

This is a short interview with JB, JG & BP from French site

81 Days left and it's Passover!! If you didn't know I'm Jewish, which means I'm circumcised. Wait, that's not right. But, I did have a dinner. A dinner of the passover sort...with wine! Anyway, I put off writing this blog all day because I was going to try to do something cool tonight, now really.

Before I explain let me warn you that I failed miserably in my attempt, but last ear when i did something similar it was SUPER cool! Story:

Every year on Passover I make a Matzo creation, some kind of sculpture out of Matzo and the brown stuff on the table (really don't know what it is). Last year I made a Matzo TARDIS and it was more or less the coolest thing ever. I mean right??

Picture
This year I got over confident and I thought I would make a working Torchwood water tower. You guys, I failed...so miserably, in so many ways so let me show you a story in pictures of my failures:

First plan was to make 40 panels of Matzo, the water tower is 5 panels across and 8 panels up FUN FACT! Well that was a ridiculous Idea, Matzo was breaking in odd places and I didn't have enough brown stuff! I briefly considered finishing with Nutella but it just wasn't Jewish enough. SO the first failure by the time I gave up, looked like this:
Picture
Then I checked the clock and noticed I was running out of time. And not because I don't have other topics but because I was determined to post THIS POST I decided to try to  cheat my way to success. I grabbed glue and tape and an inking brush and I layered some Matzo until it looked like this:
Picture
Don't bother counting, it's not the right number of panels. I am sorry. My next step was to try to make water run down it. So I went to my art desk and I used so spray fix to try to seal the ink onto the Matzo. It actually looked like it worked. I learned rather quickly once I got into the bath tub, it did not work. Some water drip and the ink ran. Maybe it would have worked if I had time to let it set.

Not the point. Not all the ink washed off. And I started the water and it flowed over it. And the result is the closest I have to a working Torchwood water tower for you all. I made a video, I'm pretty sure I giggle at one point in the background. Here it is:
Shortly after that video I tried to get a still shot of it with water coming down. One of the layers broke but I got a shot and it actually looked like I planned a base here's that:
Picture
Ok, that's all I have, sorry it was an epic fail but hey ho I tried and at least I had some Torchwood pride yea? In other news, Kai Owen is buying me a pony, he said so.

@KaiKaiOwen @comicinks Spread da word and a pony is comin your way baby xxx

So I'm spreading the word! The Torchwood Audio-Exclusive Adventures "Ghost Train" and "Department X" are available not only in the UK but now also in the US. So go get a copy! But I already told you that when they came out. It's ok, best you get a copy if you haven't. One of these blogs will inevitably be a review of sorts, and spoilery. If you're still reading now I am sorry. There were 7 glasses of wine and I needed to write the blog. I have to do it every day.

So, do you forgive my failure? Have you ever been crafty in a Torchwood way? Have you picked up those Audio-Exclusives yet? xx

82 Days left and I just took a poll! I just voted "yes " on "Will you watch S4 of Torchwood if ianto does not came back?" vote too ➔ http://bit.ly/4Xu9ux

And the poll, led to a mini-twitter rant that went something like this:

@BarrowmanDay  I am just. You guys. Seriously. I love #Ianto, more than most I think, but he's NOT the only good thing about #Torchwood. BARROWMAN <3Dana

@BarrowmanDay There are so many reasons to love #Torchwood, even beyond Barrowman, it makes me sad folks don't want to give it a chance now <3Dana

@BarrowmanDay And for the record, this is gonna surprise you, I would watch #Torchwood even without Barrowman in it. There is more to it than cast! <3Dana

@BarrowmanDay PS I love John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd, please do not take my rant to mean I don't. Oh look a blog topic! <3Dana

And now we're here and I need to write this blog I've had in the back of my mind for a while because I am adequately fired up about the topic. Today I'm going to say my peace about conditional fans. Fans who say things like "I'd watch IF...Ianto came back, they killed Gwen, Jack wasn't such an ass-hat in COE" or fans that didn't like something of the past series (or all of COE) and decided that the show as a whole will always suck.Trust me, I have heard ALL of those complaints and a lot more.

*Get's on soapbox*

I LOVE TORCHWOOD!! I love so many things about Torchwood. I love the past series and I am so excited for the future. I sympathize with the fans who are displeased, who think that some decisions where the wrong ones. I am seriously one of the biggest Ianto fans you will ever come across, I miss him, but, and this is the big but of it all, he was not the only great thing about Torchwood!

Torchwood was and will continue to be the show I love not only because of the past and present cast, but because of the creative team and the general concept of the show. And everyone working on TW:MD is exceptional. If you have not seen the previous works of the writing team or the new cast members let me assure you that I have and we really are getting the best of the best. And it's fine if you don't like Torchwood, the show will evolve and things will undoubtedly change but what I'm hoping is that people will give it a chance.

I'm begging you to think of all the moments that made you love the show and admit that maybe it was more than the presence of one character. Watch the first episode with an open mind and maybe even if Torchwood isn't the same show you loved, it can be a new show you love. Take a look around, you're on the Barrowman Day website, I think it's clear how I feel about John Barrowman and a lot of you may be thinking I will stand up for anything JB does because I am biased and because I adore anything he's in. Let me be clear and honest about this point. I would watch Torchwood even if John Barrowman were no longer on it. I think Torchwood is a brilliant show and if one day Jack managed to stay dead, or inexplicably John Barrowman wanted to do something else, I would still tune in and give it a chance. I think the show could go on without any of the original cast and well after Russel T Davies leaves, as it seems he plans to do. It could also be a complete disaster, but I wouldn't and you shouldn't write it off.

The 21st century is when everything changes and Torchwood is ready.

*Get's off soapbox*

Honestly the original blog I planed was less rant and more thought out but this is where I'm at right now. I just want to say what's on my mind and hear what you have to say. Are you going to continue to watch Torchwood? If not what are your conditions? Do you think I am completely out of line to believe in the future of this show? xx

83 Days left and I need to warn you in advance today's blog is a hot topic. Read at your own risk you may find yourself fired up by the end. But it needs to be blogged and today is the day!

Jack Harkness...John Barrowman...today we're gonna discuss the Jack Harkness look. His clothes, his hair, his general Barrow-ness that makes him, well, HOT! See what I did there? Hot topic? Oh you guys thought I was going to be serious today, admit it!

Today I went shopping, which got me thinking about clothes and then as my mind generally does it related it back to Barrowman. I got to thinking about the fabulous look that has come to be our Captain's signature. I think we can all agree that the go-to outfit consists of the following: Dark trousers, blue shirt (light or dark), braces & a belt, THE COAT and the occasional waistcoat if Jack's feeling showy.  What we end up with is something like this...

Picture
I bet the majority of you are quite fond of this look, I mean...he looks good right? Not only does it suit our dear Mr. Barrowman but it's very fitting to the character and over 3 series, with very little deviation, we've gotten used to it.

But as accustomed as we are, the fact remains he's not a cartoon character, this is not his only outfit and he has worn other things in this role.  Through Doctor Who certainly he was not so constant in his attire and there were rare moments of differentiation in Torchwood as well. Here's a few examples:
Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
From top to bottom we have, very different Jack from the Doctor Who days, that AWFUL jacket he occasionally wore in early Torchwood, waistcoat Jack, and my absolute favorite sea-foam green shirt/red braces Jack. That outfit is actually very debated amongst fans, you either hate it or love it. I personally was thrilled to have the change, it gave me the same exciting this is wrong feeling as Ianto in jeans!

My point, and I do have one, is that Jack is capable of change. He can switch up the outfits, he does cut and style his hair, and dare I say it, he even ages (very slowly). So what I am wondering about is the decision to keep him almost entirely the same throughout Torchwood. I get the practical reasons, I do. Save money on wardrobe changes (although as I understand it they have a number of copies of the coat), it's an iconic look and one associated with the character, what wearing a uniform of sorts represents for the Jack, and of course, because he looks great in it! I mean really why fix what's not broken?

And yet, I like the idea that a character changes and it's reflected outwardly. I think they did a bang up job in transition from Doctor Who to Torchwood to show us, visually, Jack has changed and matured quite a bit. I guess what I wished is that there would be some similar shake-up, if not so dramatic, to indicate Jack has really been through a lot and he has changed. I mean, wouldn't COE have fundamentally changed Jack at least to the point where he switched his shirt? No. Don't answer that, I actually have that topic on my "to blog" list. This is getting off topic and to be fair, he DOES have a new haircut in Miracle Day!

Before I stop my ramble I have something to confess. I am just gonna lay it out there. And you can tear into me as need be, but please do not misjudge my next statement.

I think Jack looks better without the coat.

I LOVE THE COAT and I would never get rid of it, but he could get hot in LA and take it off on occasion. I am a sucker for those braces. And if we're talking about preferences, I really wish we had series 2 Jack happening, his hair was the perfect length.

Time to shut up and hear from you. Do you have a favorite look Jack has donned? Do you like his hair long or short? Should I just shut up about messing with that level of perfection? xx

84 Days left and i don't really have much on my mind today. I mean, as always, I am counting down the days 'til Torchwood is back but I don't have some huge rant like opinion to go on about.

What I do have is music. Today I spent the day doing tedious things and the only thing that really pulled me through was the music I had on. Why am I mentioning this in my Torchwood blog? Well, the soundtrack of my day was the lovely music of Murray Gold.

If you are unaware, Murray Gold is a composer who along with Ben Foster created the music for the first 2 series of Torchwood, as well as having worked on Doctor Who. His work is amazing, he does a great job of setting the mood and I can best describe his work as heartbreaking. There is so much emotion in his music that even played aside from Torchwood it tugs at your heart-strings. Really, I've been listening to it all day and I'm super depressed, but in a good way.

So instead of rambling today I thought I would just say I am excited that Murray Gold is going to be composing the music of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Oh, by the way, Murray Gold is going to be composing the music for Torchwood: Miracle Day! See? I really did have a point! There was an announcement a couple of weeks ago which is happy news for me. Below I'm posting a few of the songs he and Ben created for Torchwood, personal favorites. Grab your tissues.

Oh those are all so sad!! So what do you think? Are you a longtime Murray Gold fan? Do you now realize you love him? Do you have any favorite songs he composed? Do they take you back to particular scenes in Torchwood that really broke you? xx

85 Days left and today I found myself thinking about guest stars. In case you missed it, this morning Torchwood writer Jane Espenson tweeted the following:

@JaneEspenson

Watching #Torchwood dailies. I feel cruel even telling you guys that there's a guest star that's gonna make your eyes spin.

Obviously now everyone is wondering who it could be. I hadn't given in much thought but then I read a tweet from a friend to Jane in response, asking if the guest stars initials were GDL. I laughed so hard because I wasn't even considering that. I mean really if anything would make our eyes spin! I promise you this won't be a save Ianto blog, but I mention it because it got me thinking about not only who it could be, but who I would love it to be.

Since I enjoyed my list yesterday and because there is really no point as I see in guessing who it could be, below is a list of a few people I wish would make guest appearances in Torchwood:

~KRISTIN CHENOWETH - Top of my list! Why? Well, firstly, she's the only person in the universe I love as much as I love John Barrowman, it's a dead tie. Second, she is insanely talented, as an actress, singer, cookie baker you name it this girl is good at it, she'd be a fine addition to any cast. Third, I'm still holding out hope for a musical episode of Torchwood and a Barrowman/Chenoweth power ballad would complete my life. And finally, perhaps most importantly, I secretly think, Kristin Chenoweth is an alien, only thing that explains her magnificent voice.  I bet we can work that into a story, don't you? Except instead of stopping her it's revealed that Jack actually comes from the same singing alien planet….and everyone breaks into song. Seriously, why do I not write these shows?

~RUSSEL T DAVIES - I always think it's cool when people who work on a show or movie make a cameo and RTD is well known enough where people would get excited. I also like it when they have a memorable moment, maybe he could die in the show. Not because I want to kill him, but because there are all those RTD haters out there and it would be a bit funny to egg them on. I love RTD, regardless of whether I agree with every choice he's ever made I think he's a genius and he's responsible for a lot of things I really love.

~HARRISON FORD/NATHAN FILLION - I love these guys, in general, in the epic roles they've played, just as actors but that's besides the point. THey're lumped because they are hear for the same reason untimely, Jack Harkness meets Han Solo or Malcolm Reynolds would be EPIC.  It would also be ridiculous but since we're doing a wish list why not dream big. I don't know if I'd prefer them as those characters making a cameo, but if they did it would have to be an hallucination or something. Otherwise I really would love to have that silent joke for the fans or really just see John Barrowman and Nathan Fillion on screen together and see who can out cocky the other. I'm also adding David Boreanaz to this little group, because of the Jack/Angel comparisons made and also just because I like him.

~BURN GORMAN/ NAOKO MORI/ GARETH DAVID-LLOYD - No no, no resurrections in mind we're talking guest star limited role thing so why not…a flashback. They can make the fans smile a bit without having to undo the stories the've told. I think we can do with a flashback or our fallen friends. OR maybe Jack needs to watch old CCTV footage to look into something and we get to see them, but it's something we've not seen before, I'm just saying, it could work.

~ME - Because what Torchwood fan wouldn't want to be on Torchwood?! Also I'm gonna be super famous one day and this could get me exposure. I want in on the musical episode! I've said before I could TOTALLY play Gwen's American cousin…well I could. OH! And to make things interesting, I could be Gwen's cousin who is also in love with Jack. Perfect, I think I could "fake" loving Jack well.

I could go on but really at that point it just comes down to, I like these people so they should guest star on a show I like. My list should stop but lets hear from you. Any objections or comments with my options? Who would you like to see on Torchwood? Should they play any specific part? xx

86 Days left...86...do you all know what it means to 86 something? It's slang, meaning to throw out or get rid of. You could 86 a person out of your restaurant.  You could 86 a plan that you thought better of. I don't actually know if 86 is used in that sense in the UK, but it's pretty common in the US.

Since we're 86 days away I thought it would be fun to do a blog about things I'd like 86ed from Torchwood: Miracle Day. To be clear the fact that I am 86ing the ideas means I am supposing they were at one point considered, but really, some of these may not have ever even entered conversation. I'm not claiming to know anything here, just pondering things they might do in TW: MD and 86ing the ones that should never ever ever ever happen. Ok?

The following is my TW: MD 86 list. Should any writers be reading this, since it's too late and the scripts have been written, feel free to 86 away!

~ GWACK - I cannot emphasize this enough. GWACK is WACK! Now I know what you're all thinking "Dana is single minded and butt hurt about Ianto so she doesn't want Jack and Gwen together", well, that's true! BUT and there is a but, that's not my only reasoning. I think, I really think, that there is something great about a show with main characters that…aren't in love. I'm honestly a little over every show having the Scully/Mulder dynamic, can't any two people just be friends? In real life, I am a big believer in the fact that 2 people of the opposite sex can be friends, just friends, without any underlying sexual attraction. And while it's not the norm, it would be refreshing to see a different expression of their friendship. I realize this isn't going to happen, audience love sexual frustration especially with characters that more than likely will never act on it. It's what people expect, fine, but if I were in charge. 86.

~THE NAME REX - In fact, we can 86 all of the new character names. Rex? Esther? Oswald? I mean, I realize that if my biggest complaint about the new series is that I loathe the character names, we're overall in pretty good shape, but…who thought these were good names? Rex is the name of a cat, maybe a dog, Esther last popped up in the bible and Oswald is the penguin. I just don't understand. Can you seriously imagine in normal conversation saying " I'm going to the movies with my friends Rex and Esther…and Oswald may meet us there."?? I just…do not approve. 86, moving on.

~ ANY ATTEMPT TO REPLACE IANTO - I'm not talking about in Jack's heart, let's be reasonable, he's aloud to move on…in 1000 years time. I mean if there is a new teaboy or teagirl in the show I'm gonna have a fit. Leave the man's coffee machine alone and get to know your local Starbucks. 86 FauxIanto.

~ CHARACTER DEATHS FOR SHOCK VALUE - This is an issue with a lot of shows, and books and films, really if there is a story telling method the shock value death has happened within it's domain. Again, I get it's a typical tactic but I love that Torchwood is a show that keeps us guessing more often than not. I'm not saying that they will, or that they have done in the past, but I am saying I hope they don't. I don't want them to kill the entire new cast just as we start to like them. There is a fine line between Torturewood and ridiculous.  86.

~ STARZ NIPPLE QUOTA - OK so this is probably not a real thing, but in all my experiences with Starz there is a lot of nudity and I think, just maybe the high ups have instilled a nipple quota. Maybe, for every 15 minutes of screen time, they need to show 3 or more nipples and no more than 15 minutes apart. Now, I certainly don't mind nudity, when it's called for, but I don't know that I need to be able to pick out Eve Myles boobs in a line-up either. My point, keep it classy, and if there must me nipples, might I recommend Barrowman man-nipples? 86 the quota.

Now, that's just things a few examples on my mind at present, I'm sure there are things I am not considering but if these things remained out of the story, I would be pretty happy. So what do you think of my suggestions? Can 2 people of the opposite sex be just friends? Can Gwen and Jack? What about those names, Ianto 2.0 or the nudity? Are there any other ideas you would want 86ed? xx

88 Days left and today I had the most surreal Torchwood moment ever. Seriously, the time I met John Barrowman ranks high on the ridiculous scale but today was UNFATHOMABLE.

Today's insanity can summed up in 2 words: Torchwood Chatsworth. Lets back up so I can explain. Last night, I came across some information, namely that Torchwood was  going to be filming today...in Chatsworth.

Most of you reading this are in the UK and even those who are in the US might not have heard of Chatsworth. So let me introduce you. Chatsworth, just so happens to be my home town. If the notion of Torchwood filming in the US was unimaginable, Torchwood filming in Chatsworth is absurd. Chatsworth is a small neighborhood in LA. No one has heard of it, so residents generally just tell people we live in LA, it's close enough but lacks the glamor.

The inside scoop on Chatsworth, from someone who grew up here is this: Chatsworth's greatest achievements are in the porn industry. Locals know it as a porn capital, and yes, they film a lot of porn here. That's not to say that we've never had general entertainment TV and films shoot in the area but usually when you see a sign pointing to a location it's in code and points to somewhere you dare not tread. I told my friend Torchwood was filming near my house and he honestly asked me if they were filming porn.  I frankly wouldn't be surprised if they brought John Barrowman to our lovely city to film his upcoming nude scene(s).

And another fun fact, the church next to the filming was a church I frequented during my high school days and the stretch of land and surrounding area was, seriously, the Charles Manson property. To recap, Chatsworth, my home, land of porn and Charles Manson.

What's more, is sources informed us the filming today would take place from about 7am-7pm in a large house in a gated community. Ok, I don't actually think they are filming the next season of TorchWOOD but it does paint a scandalous image. The unfortunate truth is this same filming anywhere else wouldn't be at all suspicious. I realize this is just my preconceived notions of filming in the area in big houses.

At the end of the day the greatest entertainment came from jokes about a rift through Chatsworth, Torchwood Chatsworth, and contemplating one liners that Jack could deliver upon learning about his surroundings. My friend and I are considering making shirts.

Actually scoping out the location didn't yield all that much. The crew was set up about 3 blocks away from my house so it was no trouble to drive by and see what we could discover. It was cool to see Torchwood set up in my area but at the end of the day the filming was in a gated community and so - closed to the public. My friend Kristine Keller snapped a few pictures which I've posted below.

What else is there to say really. It would be cool if Chatsworth ended up mentioned as the location during an episode. I swear I don't hate my city, really it's affectionate reflection.

So what I'm wondering is, do you think Torchwood came to my hometown to shoot the BarrowNude scenes we've been promised? Any guesses what they may actually be filming in a large house? xx
